Voice Recreation: Davy Jones – “Pirates 2: Dead Man’s Chest”

I’ve had a small affinity for Bill Nighy’s voice for Davy Jones, ever since I started performing voice impressions back in 2008. I kept working on it enough, in fact, that a friend of mine likes to give me opportunities to use it and other pirate voices in his projects, or similar projects he’s working on for others.

The accent for Davy Jones is decidedly hard to place, I’m not sure what inspired Bill to go this direction with the strange inflections or the long extension on words at the end of sentences. But after you hear it enough, you start to pick up on its logic.
